Boss DD-20 Giga Delay Review #2

loopers-delight.com

The Boss DD-20 Giga Delay impresses with its true stereo capability and versatile 23-second delay across 10 modes, including a delightful reverse mode. It excels for stereo instrument users, offering creative looping possibilities by switching between loops. However, switching back deletes the previous loop stack, a notable downside. Despite this, it's a cost-effective alternative to its pricier mono counterparts.

Boss Giga Delay Dd-20 AudioPaal Review

guitarmasterclass.net

The Boss DD-20 Giga Delay shines as a versatile, reliable delay pedal. Offering a vast range of clean, high-quality digital delay sounds, it competes with having multiple pedals in one. Its ease of use is commendable for basic settings, though more complex adjustments can be tricky without consulting the well-written manual. Built with Boss's trademark ruggedness, it promises durability in any setting. While battery consumption could be an issue, especially without an adaptor, the pedal's overall performance and seamless preset switching make it a strong contender for any guitarist's rig.

Best Boss delay - ever!

Another holy grail achieved. I finally got my hands on a DD-20.

This thing has all the delays I will ever need, and is the perfect compliment to my TC Electronics Prophet.

I have always loved the old school Boss double pedal format - there's so much functionality crammed into an enclosure no better than a dinner plate and even now, many years after it was introduced, it still holds up.

Boss' legendary ruggedness also applies to their double pedals. These things can take all kinds of abuse, same as their single-sized siblings.

All the delays sound great. I'm especially loving the more "exotic" options, such as Twist, Warp, Tape, Smooth, Modulate, and of course, Reverse. All of these things expand my delay options immensely, and play great with all my other pedals!

dom_greenaway

First and favourite digital delay

I'm not sure why but I've never found a digital delay i've liked as much. The DL4 while not really a similar delay was close as far inspiration and the Walrus Mako was fun but still fell short.

mr_the_ox

Still so great!

There are better delays out there, I guess, with more options and features, but this unit, which is already more than 20 years old (!!), has stereo ins and outs, tap tempo, 4 presets (+manual mode so really 5 presets), reverse mode and sound on sound mode, all with 23 seconds of looping/delay time. For less than 150$? And unkillable because it's a Boss? What more do you actually need?

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Currently set to Sound on Sound in manual mode, and presets are 1) analog with dotted eighth, 2) warp, strictly for the hold feature, 3) reverse with long repeats and 4) modulate with very short feedback to create a sort-of phaser effect.

is perfect

is very complex to use but is a great machine, a great powerfull machine, is the delay, every pedalboard must have one of this

michaelpole

Very impressive

Very versatile. The presets are very useful and the tone knob is far more important than I originally expected as it really enhances the sound of the repeats.

R

Need to have every possibly delay/echo option in one pedal? Well the DD-20 is that.

Nothing else to say other than this is by far my most used pedal and can be used to do just about everything you need other than use delay whilst looping. It can still loop though.

It is a phenomenal pedal that was worth every cent. If you are feeling wealthy, I would suggest getting it's older brother (the DD-500), but if you want something a bit cheaper that will still beat mostly everything else on market, then get the DD-20.

tomreynolds03

Delay For Everyone

The DD-20 is a versatile and easy to use delay pedal. It has all the main delay types including digital, analog, tape and modulated delay. The delay repeats sit well in a mix and with built in tap tempo and 4 user presets, it’s got everything a delay pedal could need. Much preferred over some of the more recent delay units which can sound a bit too hi-if.

cherrydaticky

my favorite delay pedal

i bought the pedal because jason hale the lead guitarist from chiodos used it and i love jason hale so i bought it and i plugged it in a i instantly fell in love with it i use it for everything i play

Delay...Delay... and MORE delay.

If you're a delay fanatic as I am, you'll fall in love with this. This is the perfect Medium between a DD-7 and the DD-500. If you're looking to expand your different options with such as experimenting with delay sounds, you're good with this. So many different options. I love it. You can choose to set it to the BPM of any song you're playing, and you can choose to have the delay be either an eighth note... eight dotted, half, and so much more. Get it.

brizee77

versatile

having tried many delays, this one still comes out as a great tone for the stage and studio. Having a BPM is so useful when recording and having a record mode is so useful for practicing. It can be programmed and whilst its a little complicated to get to know, it delivers the most precision repeats and versatile options of any I've tried.
