Critic Reviews

Genelec 1030A

soundonsound.com

The Genelec 1030A studio monitors pack the signature Genelec sound into a compact package, making them a top choice for smaller studios. Their impressive bass response and detailed sound reproduction set them apart from other near-field monitors. The built-in active crossovers and power amplifiers allow for fine-tuning to suit different room acoustics. However, their premium price point may deter budget-conscious users. While not matching the openness of larger Genelec models, the 1030As deliver a reliable and balanced performance, proving that big things can indeed come in small packages.

Old school and great.

Fantastic speak, easy to hear inter-sample modulation and low end. Great for creating and checking 808s.

"And as GENELEC spread widely, I switched to GENELEC. At first I used a black 1030A, later I switched to a white 8040A. It was a good speaker for both making and listening to music, but I got tired of using it. So I bought the RL906 from MUSIK because it could be painted white.”

These are used in German Broadcast vans. So far I’ve had Genelec 1030s and Adam S2As but I prefer this small German speaker. I use them together with a subwoofer, but even without the sub it’s unbelievable how much low end these produce.
