Description
The RD Effects "Pellucidrive" is an original hand-built transistor based overdrive with a switchable boost mode designed to let the natural tone of the guitar shine through and also provide a significant gain and saturation boost when desired.
Specifications: Power: 9V DC 2.1mm jack only, center negative (no battery connection available) Input/Output: 1/4" jack Dimensions (approx.): 4.5"L x 2.8"W x 2.1"H Weight (approx.): 0.56 lbs
Operation: The "Bypass" switch activates and deactivates the overdrive. The white LED lights up when the overdrive is active. The three black knobs at the top control the overdrive: "Level", "OD Gain", and "OD Tone". Level adjusts the volume. OD Gain adjusts the saturation of the distortion. OD Tone adjusts the amount of high frequency signal: the higher the setting the brighter the tone.
The "Boost" switch activates and deactivates the boost. The red LED lights up when the boost is active. When active, the boost is controlled by the two red knobs. The "Boost Gain" knob adjusts the amount of added boost. Note: The higher the setting on the black "OD Gain" knob, the higher the max possible gain boost available in Boost mode. The boost mode uses a completely separate tone control from the main overdrive circuit to allow a customized boost tone. This is especially useful in balancing the brightness between the overdrive and boost modes.
The "Full Freq./Low Cut" toggle switch offers a subtle yet effective solution to tighten the sound when using the pedal on its higher gain and higher treble settings. In "Low Cut" mode, the very low frequencies are cut from the signal to clean up and smooth out the high gain sounds. The pedal works well throughout its entire control range in "Low Cut" mode but when using lower gain settings or when the tone is dialed down, the pedal has slightly more bass response available in "Full Freq." mode.
