Tech 21 Sansamp TRI-AC Review

houstonmusicreviews.com

The Tech 21 SansAmp TRI-AC excels in offering rock players three distinct, programmable sounds with a robust build and innovative features like the LAZY POT. However, its EQ can be challenging, and it lacks the high-gain punch metal players may seek. A loud pop when switching presets and fragile battery lid add to its drawbacks. While the vintage emulation settings shine for blues and classic rock, the speaker emulation falls short compared to competitors. Overall, it's a versatile tool for players prioritizing rock and vintage tones, but not ideal for those seeking more aggressive soundscapes.

Practical

This pedal is a great feature in any pedalboard, due to its versatility and practicality. It's possible to switch from a light, brilliant Fender-like amp to a dark, heavy Mesa Boogie-like amp within a second, and everything can be easily adapted within minutes. I strongly recommend it!

It's Incredible

For a long time, I used analog pedals and for convenience and transport reasons, I switched to multi-effects. I had a Boss GT6 and a GT8, then a Line 6 POD HD500. I always wanted to go back to pedals, but the idea of never having to think about an amplifier, due to the emulation that multi-effects have, I really like. So I repressed this desire until I found this device. Usually, I build the sound on a clean base like Twin Reverb with my Standard Telecaster and on a crunch base like Marshall with my Telecaster HH. The Tri AC has that, just what I use, with the possibility of a third switch for another type of amp or for an amp with more gain. I must say that I returned to analog effects and I wouldn't change them for anything.

Not a fancy pedal but it's truly a versatile tool.

In my opinion the Sansamp Tri-Ac it's a overly underrated pedal and the main reason is that many guitarists(including me) bought it expecting the same kind of powerful distortions that his big brother GT-2 offers. I try to use it as a lead distortion for solos and i was never happy with the results, but the real magic only came when i put it in my set as a multi-overdrive unit. I mean...c'mon, how many overdrive pedals in the market coud gives you a combination of transparent drive + crunch + vox style drive, changing the voice of the pedal on the fly whitout bending? And this configuration it's just an example based on my atual settings, the possibilities are almost endless my friends.

Virtual Amps: Welcome to the Future

This will replace my need for an amp on the road. I want all my axe folk in the band to carry one. Heck, give one to each member, including our keyboard player and both drummers. We'd be the best unlistenable band in the world.

the most powerful drives and simulator

the most powerful drives and simulators, fender twin , plexi marshal and mesa boogie, you can save your settings , total analogic effects

It can solve some problems, but lacks spirit

It a wonderfull pedal with low cost you can make 3 souns arrangement fast looking good, but don´t reachs that headroom necessary to kill at all. Nice sound on Marshall stuffs and Fender, but lacks on Mesa Boogie perform.
