Description
The AC50CP2 was a 50 watt RMS all tube guitar amplifier based on the electronics chassis of the AC50CP2 amp head combined with a modified AC-30CC2 combo cabinet. It was introduced by Vox in 2007. It has four ECC83 (12AX7) preamp tubes and two EL-34 power tubes. The power supply was diode rectified. The AC50CP2 also included two 12" Wharfedale GSH12-30 speakers.
The AC50CP2 was a footswitchable two channel amp. Channel one was based on the preamp circuitry of the AC-30 Top Boost amplifier. Channel two was a high gain channel, tonally reminiscent of what one would expect in a 70s era stack amplifier. Channel two also included a "bright" and "fat" switch for a wider tonal palette.

Underrated
This amp is completely overlooked and underrated in the world of Vox. They were produced for only a few years before being discontinued and I was lucky enough to purchase on at that time.
Channel 1 offers everything you love about the AC30, with more head room and more tonal control. Channel 2 offers Vox's take on modern medium to high gain.
This amp is a pedal monster! It will take extremely heavy effect settings in the front end with no complaints, or you have the option of the series effects loop. I swapped the EL 34 power tubes for KT77's and I could not be happier.
I would encourage anyone to look into these amps more and see what you may be missing out on. You can find demos on my youtube (linked in my bio).

I think its reviled because it doesn't really sound like an original AC50 with a gain channel tacked on, nor does it get the ac30 thing because of its power amp. When I tried one my gut reaction was "that's not an ac50!" but after a few mintues I liked it as a modern, somewhat voxy channel switcher. Definitely its own thing and vox has trouble marketing stuff like that. people REALLY ust want teir handful of classic designs and with good reason.
