Description
Dive into the sonic realm with the Vox Joe Satriani Signature Ice 9 Overdrive, a pedal that marries versatility with signature style. Conceived in collaboration with the legendary Joe Satriani, this pedal is named after the iconic track from his "Surfing with the Alien" album. The Ice 9 offers guitarists a dynamic playground of tones, from classic warmth to modern aggression, thanks to its dual voice switch. Whether you're channeling vintage vibes or modern edge, the Ice 9 delivers with precision.
At its core, the Ice 9 features intuitive controls—Gain and Volume knobs allow you to meticulously craft your level of distortion, while Tone and Bass controls provide nuanced EQ shaping. The Bass control stands out by adding depth before the drive stage, ensuring a robust low-end response. What truly sets this pedal apart is the signature 'More' button, granting a 14dB boost for those moments when your sound needs to cut through with authority.
Housed in a durable metal chassis with easy-to-read chicken-head knobs, the Ice 9 is as tough as it is stylish. Whether powered by a 9V battery or an optional AC adapter, it's built to endure both stage and studio demands, offering sonic flexibility that's a testament to Joe Satriani's own sound ethos.

Wonderfull
I spent a lot of time hounting precisely this stompbox in the used market and now can say: thank you Vox and thank you Satriani. It really is a very nice and good quality distortion. Of course it's not high-end and it's not a boutique pedal either, but the sound on it is definitely hard to forget. At first the sound is somewhat familiar to some Fulltone and Maxon distortions, it also ranges from some Boss and Ibanez distortions. It is definitely not a copy of any of those, but a different Distortion that allows us all those parameters. A very lot usefull and wonderfull sound. It has a Foot Switch "More", i think it's like a Booster, and also has a manual "Toggle Switch" to go between a "Vintage Mode" or "Modern Mode". Must say both modes sound their own way pretty excellent. There is no doubt that this Vox Ice 9 was very well designed. I just would prefer the "Foot Switch More" to be on the left side rather than the right side and that the Booster function could be activated without activating the Distortion. Maybe i will try to make do that with a mod. Anyway, it's a pedal with a very picturesque color. This one Vox Ice9 and the Fulltone PlimSoul are my best choise to go giging with pleasent confident.

Great overdrive pedal
When I first got my Fender Blues Junior amp I needed a pedal for overdrive as unless I got it up to high volumes I just couldn't et feedback and it has no switch. So I got recommended this Vox overdrive pedal while I was also buying (the essential Vox V847A WahWah pedal). I think we were just talking about Vox in general so I tried this Ice9 pedal and as a comparison I also tried the old Ibanez Tube Screamer. In the end I chose the Vox Ice9.I especially liked the extra shaping the Bass knob provides with the overdrive. The "More" switch gives an instant 15db boost which is handy for lead breaks when you find that you can't turn your volume up any further as well. All round a great pedal in my opinion. I'd miss it if I lost it put it that way! :-)

Artist usage

"A lot of people know me for my lead distortion tones, but actually I've been using overdrive pedals since the Surfing record all the way up through the Chickenfoot record, the tour and even the new Chickenfoot sessions. The Ice 9 captures the best of my vintage and modern overdrive pedals, and it improves a lot of troubling issues intial pedals had. The Ice 9 is a great versatile sounding pedal and I'm having a great time using it on tour right now."
