Critic Reviews

Vox AV30 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Vox AV30 is a compelling choice for guitarists seeking a blend of modern and vintage tones, wrapped in a retro-modern cabinet design. This hybrid amp offers a variety of excellent tones, from classic 60s cleans to modern metal, with notable projection and portability. While it's not programmable, its simplicity is part of the charm, allowing musicians to focus on sound quality, which is impressive for its price. The AV30 includes two 12AX7 dual-triode valves and a Valve Reactor output stage, providing a tonal depth that surpasses many digital models. However, its lack of programmability might deter those seeking more digital versatility.

VOX AV30

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The Vox AV30 is a stylish, portable combo amp that excels in clean and crunch tones, making it a great choice for practice or small gigs. Its standout feature is the multi-circuit analogue pre-amp with a 12AX7 tube, offering a range of tones from clean to overdrive. However, the high gain settings fall short, sounding thin and fizzy, making it less ideal for metal enthusiasts without additional pedals. Despite this, the robust speaker and impressive onboard effects make the AV30 a versatile and visually appealing option for many guitarists.

Great amp for gigging and home practice

This amp has served me well, with plenty of volume to keep up with my loud drummer, tone wise the amp is decent, nothing special but I can get a vague ACDC sort of tone.
