Description
Wampler Tumnus Deluxe Overdrive Pedal is a premium musical tool that takes the iconic overdrive effect to new heights. This pedal retains the clarity, punch, and detailed breakup of the original Tumnus but introduces a level of tonal flexibility previously unseen in this style of drive. With active bass and mid controls as well as a treble control, this pedal offers a variety of ways to shape your tone to suit your rig.
The Tumnus Deluxe is far more than just another clone. Whether you're using it to boost a driven amp or another pedal, as a standalone overdrive, or as a constant tonal sweetener, this pedal's wide-ranging controls make it incredibly versatile.
One of the standout features of this pedal is the buffered or true bypass switch. The buffer in the Tumnus Deluxe is so good, it might enhance your tone whether the pedal is on or off. However, if you prefer the clean signal path of true bypass operation, achieving that uncolored sound is as easy as flipping a switch.

A Versatile Tone-Shaping Powerhouse
The Wampler Tumnus Deluxe immediately impressed us with its solid build quality and design. We appreciated the thoughtful placement of input/output jacks on the back, saving precious pedalboard real estate.
The controls are where this pedal truly shines. We found the 3-band EQ to be incredibly versatile, allowing us to dial in everything from subtle warmth to searing leads. The switchable buffer and "hot" mode for added gain are welcome additions.
Sound-wise, the Tumnus Deluxe delivers in spades. In our experience, it enhances your tone without drastically altering it, adding a pleasing harmonic richness and clarity. We were impressed by its ability to work well with various guitars and amps, though we noticed the treble could get a bit harsh with certain setups.
For us, the Tumnus Deluxe strikes an excellent balance between the coveted Klon sound and modern versatility. While it may not be an exact Klon, we found it to be a more than worthy alternative at a fraction of the price.
We think this pedal is perfect for guitarists seeking a transparent overdrive with extensive tone-shaping capabilities.

None of my other pedals really matter since I got this.
I’m relatively new at guitar playing and focused primarily on blues. I’ve always played around on modeling amps and couldn’t justify spending the money on a tube amp until I fully dedicated myself to playing as both a recreational and therapeutic outlet. That time came about two years ago. I finally felt like I had gotten to a place where it was critical to get the natural analog tone and vibe of a tube amp. I opted for a Fender pro jr iv se. It is clean, and simple. No frills. The tone hunt was on. I knew what I was generally looking for and didn’t realize the infinite money pit that pedals can quickly become😂 I’ve picked up the Ibanez TS-808 and Boss bd-2w. Love them. No matter what I did, and with all the versatility of tone they provide, it was missing the ethereal raw natural Strat tone that I was looking for. They both have incredibly useful and beautiful tones but there was something missing😒 I even upgraded my pickups to custom shop Texas specials and they are amazing, but I couldn’t get that hollow, airy, clean bellish tone with that creamy hard crunch tail I have been desperately looking for. FINALLY! I now realize I had been looking in the wrong place. A “transparent” overdrive is critical to get not only that iconic tone, but my God, this is the pinnacle of pedals as far as I’m concerned. I’ve spent quite a bit on pedals since getting the amp and I can honestly say that if I could only have one pedal for the red of my life… it’s the Wampler Tumnus deluxe! It’s not even a thought. The eq controls are killer and it’s so incredibly easy to shape your tone with this pedal. If the knobs were all fixed at 12 o’clock position, and were permanently that way… it would still be the only pedal I would keep if I could only have one! It’s truly that good. DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS PEDAL!

Awesome Boost/Overdrive.
I never had the original Tumnus mini sized pedal but I heard really good things about Wampler pedals, specifically- the new Tumnus deluxe which is a Klon clone. I ebayed it to my pedal board and it is definitely a keeper, thus far. The 3 band eq allows for personal adjustments to be made tonally, which I always like. Setting all the eq knobs at 12 o'clock will give you the original Tumnus's tone you'd be stuck with without the 3 band eq. There's tons of headroom on this pedal so watch out and enjoy! This pushes my Vox AC30VR to the sweet spot if the amp is just on the verge of breakup. It's very easy to get a warm and creamy tone if you keep the volume at noon and the gain around 11-1. The "hot" switch basically turns everything up a notch, and the side of the pedal is equipped with a toggle for true bypass or buffered. Oh and lastly, the design is just kick ass. The iconic lamppost from the Chronicles of Narnia is so sweet to look down at, especially with the LED in the middle where the flame would be. Go get this pedal!

This pedal makes me happy.
A klon with 3 band EQ? Yes please. Is it the most accurate klon clone ever? Of course not, but it's not trying to be. It's not quite as open and fat sounding as the real deal but you do get a very authentic gain character out of it. And it cleans up way more than I was expecting. The mids are at a higher band then I was expecting too which is also probably a good thing. With my set up (fender twin clean with the bright switch on) the treble can get a little harsh but it's adjustable so it's not really a problem. I lose a tiny tiny bit of presence but it's completely manageable. I run it pretty clean actually dipping out some unwanted frequencies, on hot too which seems to fatten it up a little and smooth out my dynamics a hair. Tonally the possibilities are endless and I know I'm not even using this thing to its full potential. The gain really does sound amazing, and I'm not even really using it.

Although Tumnus isn't trying to be Klon, in the Andertons' blindfold test video it was the only replica that outdid the original

Amazing Overdrive with huge flexibility
Had this pedal for almost a year now, it's really versatile. It can be used as a clean boost, overdrive to mild distortion. The EQ is amazing too and the built-in buffered or true bypass option is a sweet touch. I can't vouch how accurate it sounds as compared to the original Klon but this pedal sure sounds good with either single coil or humbuckers guitar. Highly recommend this pedal.

One of the most lush sounding overdrive pedal out there.
I know this pedal is based on the Klon and it does the Klon thing real good. When used as a boost it doesn't only add mid-hump but also enhances the beautiful harmonics of my amp. The final tone sounds smooth, lush and harmonically rich. I used to use a Tube Screamer clone before buying this pedal but after using this pedal I've retired my Tube Screamer clone. This pedal does some kind of magic to the tone. My guitar tone feels more alive with this pedal.
The "K" Style Pedal with Features You Knew You Needed
The 3-band EQ, the high gain option switch. You knew you wanted them, and Wampler did it. I love the sound with my Telecaster. It makes other drives sound like playing through a paper cup. Yes, it's not truly "transparent", but it's like waking up from a wild night and walking outside to a pre-sunrise morning dew-covered field of sweet-smelling grass. And you can tweak EQ for your amp/guitar, and give it some extra grunt when needed.
My only complaint is that I wish the gain switch did more. I mean, added a more noticeable umph like a boost pedal to take the tone to a marked lead level. This is my always-on pedal for overdriven everything. I would love to not need a boost before it to go from rhythm to lead. Just put the boost circuit in it and add a switch!

this pedal will give you good tone
there are a lot of good sounds on this pedal. the EQ is VERY powerful and smartly designed. if you turn the gain down it becomes very flat and clean which allows you to sculpt your tone with the EQ and use the output knob to drive your amp how you like. my tele is a bit dark and the treble knob fixed the problem beautifully. the buffer switch is a nice touch too.

The most inspiring and versatile overdrive that i ever played.
The most inspiring and versatile overdrive that i ever played, you can get a wide range of sounds from clean boost, "transparent" overdrive and even more compressed overdrive with the hot switch, i own several overdrives such as tube driver, tube screamer, ocd, timmy, friedman be-od, etc. and if i had to keep just one of them it would be the tumnus, because is the most inspiring pedal among them and at the end of the day that's what matters most, so if you are looking for an inspiring and versatile overdrive, you definitely should try the tumnus deluxe.

amazing
A very versatile overdrive pedal that can achieve the tone you're looking for. perfect for live settings and recording. I use moderate gain and also as a boost into a second overdrive. Looked around for a pedal that could sound how i wanted and this is the one!

Guitarist Jun Han (준한) confirmed the use of the Wampler Tumnus V1 pedal on February 27th through JYP Bubble. He shared that he purchased the effector to use as a booster for achieving a harder sound rather than a clean sound while playing his guitar. Jun Han also provided an image of the pedal, referring to it as his "effector friend," and commented, "the centaur is cute right?"
