Description
Introducing the EarthQuaker Devices Space Spiral V2, a modulated delay device that serves as your personal intergalactic transporter. This isn't your ordinary delay pedal - it's a cosmic journey through time and space. Originating from the creative minds at EarthQuaker Devices, this delay effect pedal is designed to invoke the dreamy echoes reminiscent of vintage oil can and tape units.
The Space Spiral V2 is built around a "dawn of digital" echo processor and offers delay times ranging from a quick 30 ms up to a vast 600 ms. With this spectrum of adjustable delay time, you can craft everything from a classic slapback to rhythmic cosmic waves. Crank up the repeats, and let the infinite oscillation of the Space Spiral transport you to uncharted territories.
What sets the Space Spiral V2 apart is its powerful on-board modulation engine. With the Depth and Shape controls, you can stretch your signal into wild new dimensions or morph the waveform from triangle to square. Adjust the Rate control to match your pace, whether you’re after classic Leslie tones, wild pitch bends, or unique rhythmic modulated delay effects.

charming and powerful modulated delay
There are a lot of delay pedals that share the PT2399 chip - the iconic "Karaoke Machine" chip at the heart of all your favourite lo-fi delay circuits. I certainly haven't tried them all, but the Space Spiral's modulation has gorgeous character at every setting on the shape knob. It's the perfect delay for any sound chaser looking for continuous oscillation - countless delays offer infinite repeat feedback, but oil can machines capable of perpetually emitting that sound without letting the volume get out of hand are few and far between to say the least. Not to mention the way the modulation's depth and shape controls let you paint those oscillations exactly as you see fit. A beautiful textural addition to any ambient guitar or synth setup which offers excellent delay tones at practically every configuration - and with the reliable and revered build quality of an Earthquaker device.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Shape at 9, rate around 10, and repeats just past 3 o'clock - everything else at noon. that's where I find the perfect balance between the grating, lofi oscillations that sit patiently in the background and the pedal's hypnotic modulations.

Strange and dreamy - or annoying and wobbly, depending on personal preference
EQD are becoming very well-known for handcrafting boutique pedals which offer familiar effects with a unique twist that takes them a bit beyond what you'd expect from a typical BOSS pedal.
This one's a digital delay that sounds anything BUT 'digital'! If you want super-pristine delay, look elsewhere. It's based on a lo-fi karaoke chip and is capable of up to 600 ms of delay. Its ace card is a rate and depth-adjustable modulation with triangle and square waves available. A wide range of delay effects are possible, from rotary speaker type sounds, to seasick chorus, to slapback, to full-on dub delay with self-oscillating feedback for shoegazers, to Floyd Echorec tones. With Mod depth set to full and speed set slow, you will be totally out of tune! But maybe that's what you want. For me, I love the feedback control, which can produced some very trippy - and yes, spiralling - effects. Think Slowdive's 'Souvlaki Space Station' and you'll get the idea. If you want stupidly long delays or total clarity, look elsewhere - this is a uniquely-voiced delay that you'll either love or hate.
