Fender Champion 20: the ideal practice amp – Keen Player | A journey to mastering guitar…

keenplayer.com

The Fender Champion 20 is hailed as an ideal practice amp, notable for its simplicity and affordability. With 12 amp models and effects like reverb and delay, it delivers a classic Fender sound in a compact package. While it excels in clean and slightly crunchy tones, it's not suited for heavier genres. The design allows for easy portability, and its straightforward controls avoid the complexity of editing software, making it perfect for practice without distraction. However, its small size means it's not gig-ready. Overall, a great choice for home use and Fender enthusiasts.

Is the Fender Champion 20 Really the Ultimate Beginner Amp? - Killer Guitar Rigs

killerguitarrigs.com

The Fender Champion 20 stands out as an excellent beginner amp, boasting classic Fender aesthetics with its Blackface design and solid construction. It delivers impressive sound quality for its size, thanks to the open-back design, and is notably loud for a 20-watt solid-state model. While its amp voicings may not perfectly mimic the classics, they effectively capture the Fender spirit, offering a range of sounds from Tweed to Metal. The built-in effects, especially reverb, delay, and chorus, enhance its appeal, although some effects feel more like novelties. Its portability and headphone output make it ideal for practice, though it's less suited for gigging. Overall, this review paints the Champion 20 as a reliable, feature-rich choice for new players seeking value.

Great Beginner Amp with Plenty of Settings

Although not as impressive as the newer Fender Mustang GT and GTX Modeling Amps - this basic, solid state amp comes packed with bargain value features that are perfect for bedroom practice, small venues, and beginners. It has plenty of sound selections and is a perfect no-thrills starter amp for those looking to get away from the Frontman Starter Bundles

FEATURES 20 watts 8” Fender Special Design speaker Single channel and input Reverb, delay/echo, chorus, tremolo, Vibratone and other effects Different amp voicings and distortion types 1/8” auxiliary input and headphone output jacks

Versatile, excellent value

I'm fascinated by its tonal diversity. It's hard to beat 12 amp voices (ranging from Fender cleans to "2000s Metal") and 12 built-in effects; it saves tone chasers a lot of time and money. It seems to take pedals well, too.

Regarding live use, don't be concerned about its low wattage. This amp gets LOUD. Miking it should help when in larger venues. Its small size also makes for a very portable unit.

If you don't mind lacking a mid control, this amp is a Swiss army knife. For $99.99, it's an excellent value.

skylinerr

amp is loud you should hear my boogie dual rec on 10 that is a loud amp and i play through a boogie rectifier 4x12 with greenbacks in i can annoy the whole city if it suits me :)

ksenjayrerep

uhhhhhh

it's meh. I use it as a studio monitor bc I'm broke asf 😵‍💫 doesn't have one preset where u get just a normal clear sound it only has like distortion or flange presets

bioactive_usa

Good for clean sound

This is my main amp that I use in later recordings. Good clean tone, less good for metal.

C

Great all-purpose amp.

This amplifier is more then I ever could have hoped for when it comes to musical equipment for under $150. For around $99 you get built in effects, (limited) EQ control, and various "filters" that have built in effects themselves. Not only do you get an amp, you get the equivalent of upwards of $1,000 in pedals and guitars with it. This amp can do pretty much anything.

G

Overall it's a great amp... for beginers

Many effects but mediocre tone quality. I do really like the digital effect chorus plus reverb though.

ashrafimaduddin

Great home practice amp.

Great amplifier for beginner to an average player. One of the cleanest amp as for solid state according to it's price which is really affordable in my opinion.

xavier_pitaniello

good starter amp

a cheap starter amp if you want something inexpensive with a nice tone. loaded with little features like effects and other things.

B

Its awesome

It is amazing. It has a gain and a volume setting like most all amps along with a treble and a bass setting. This amp also has seven distortion settings and four "voice" settings. Great buy
