MXR M234 Analog Chorus review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The MXR M234 Analog Chorus is celebrated for its compact size and comprehensive tone controls, thanks to its five-knob layout. This pedal is a versatile addition to any pedalboard, leveraging analog bucket brigade technology to produce a range of rich chorus tones. While its four-screw battery access might be a slight inconvenience, its ability to offer subtle to full-bodied chorus effects makes it a top choice for guitarists. Overall, it's a robust, adaptable pedal that fits snugly on your board without compromising on sound quality.

Perfect for those 80s Rush tones

I debated getting the CE-2W just for those classic Alex Lifeson sounds because that seems to be the one that everyone raves about, but this thing does them amazingly well. I love that it has a level (essentially mix) knob also. Believe the hype!

My favorite chorus

Not as well-known as the Stereo Chorus or the classic Boss offerings, but I feel this pedal does the job better than most. It's not as deep as most, but if you want to add some depth and shimmer to your tone, this pedal is extremely hard to beat for the price. If you like to shape your tone, the low and high offer some EQ cutting if you want to tame some frequencies. I prefer to keep everything at 10 and have a slow, deep chorus.

Great pedal

The MXR analog chorus is a great pedal in my opinion. It provides some lush swishes and sways (if that's what you want to call it) for a nice, clean guitar tone. It can also provide some cool leslie-ish effects for a crunchy/bluesy guitar tone. For me, it doesn't sound as good distorted as it is clean. Overall nice, versatile pedal.

max_powell

Good pedal, not for tone/bypass freaks

I bought this pedal on a whim, and I probably shouldn't have, because personally: I can't stand any kind of disruption in my pedal, guitar, and/or amp tone, and this thing really tends to (subtly) dull down or gloss over a bright, snappy tone. However, if you are looking for a great chorus pedal, this thing is analog, very flexible, and decently priced: definitely a go if you're not insane about your tone.

Amazing Chorus Pedal

One of the best chorus effects I've ever played and the only one I've ever needed to own! This is piece of gear I take to every show because I use at every show! The effect is clear and full bodied, although muddiness can be dialed in if it is desired.

Best chorus I've ever tried

A lot of chorus pedals I've tried color tone. This one does not. It's a very subtle effect that doesn't suck your signal out or color it. 10/10

An OK chorus

It's a typical chorus. It's a little heavy on the channel tho, not a true bypass, it'll cause your guitar to hum more. Love the shiny colour.

Lots of possibilities and lush sound

A good chorussound is very personal. I really like the sound of this pedal. With the Low and High knobs you can add a lot of 'character' to the sound. I think it is really a great chorus for a decent price.
