Critic Reviews

Novation FLkey 37 and FLkey Mini review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Novation's FLkey Mini is a compact powerhouse tailored for FL Studio users, providing immediate access to essential functions with velocity-sensitive pads and a user-friendly layout. Its portability is a major asset for on-the-go creators. However, it lacks a display and is less versatile for other DAWs, which may deter some users. While the Mini is an excellent choice for those deeply embedded in the FL ecosystem, its limitations in broader compatibility could be a dealbreaker for others. Ultimately, it shines for its intended purpose but isn't the all-in-one solution some might seek.

Novation FLkey 37 & FLkey Mini review: Excellent controllers for FL Studio with deep project integration

musictech.com

The Novation FLkey Mini is a compact powerhouse tailored for FL Studio users, offering impressive plug-and-play integration and a variety of control options. Its mini keys and lightweight design make it an ideal travel companion for musicians on the go. However, the absence of a USB-C connection and a visual feedback screen found on its larger counterpart may leave some users wanting more. While it excels in performance and accessibility, the FLkey Mini's limitations in features and key size might not satisfy everyone, especially those seeking a more robust setup. Overall, it’s a solid choice for portability and ease of use, but consider the FLkey 37 for a more comprehensive experience.

Novation FLkey Mini 25-Key Review (bought & tested) - Guitar Chalk

guitarchalk.com

The Novation FLkey Mini 25-key controller is a nifty tool for beginners and seasoned musicians alike, offering impressive velocity sensitivity and customizable features in a compact design. Perfect for those on the go, it integrates seamlessly with FL Studio and includes an intuitive scale mode that makes songwriting a breeze. However, its lightweight build raises durability concerns, and the touch-sensitive pitch bend and modulation strips can be tricky during live performances. While it excels in portability and functionality, some users might find the learning curve for its advanced features a bit steep. Overall, it’s a strong contender for anyone needing a portable MIDI solution without sacrificing essential features.

Compact with Advanced abilities!

Thank you to Novation for gifting this to me.

I would never have bothered with this.

Just a week before lockdown, I came home one night to find a box by my door. This was the LaunchKey Mini which is designed for Ableton. While I tinker in Ableton, I typically work in FL Studio and Reaper when I can toss away Pro Tools and Logic.

I was fine with that controller for my home. At my recording studio, I have a full 88-Key controller which has been a trusty friend for a decade.

In June 2022, Novation came to my studio and along with a few other items, they gave me this.
It allows you to write in real-time, never stopping the sequencer and to move around the DAW flawlessly, never ever touching your computer qwerty keys and even the need to view a monitor screen.

It is quite impressive.

While I generally will not use it this way, it is quite convenient at home and I can see what is happening while I am scoring to picture and or whatnot.

I highly recommend this!!!
