Description

Introducing the NUX NOD-1 Horseman, a compact yet powerful dual overdrive pedal designed to pay tribute to the revered Centaur pedal of the mid-'90s. This pocket-sized powerhouse offers two unique modes: Gold and Silver, each delivering distinct tonal characters. The Gold Mode is a faithful emulation of the classic Gold Centaur pedal, renowned for its transparent overdrive. Meanwhile, the Silver Mode is a souped-up version, boasting an extended gain range for those seeking an extra edge.

The NUX NOD-1 Horseman doesn't just mimic the sound of the Centaur—it recreates its unique circuitry. NUX has crafted a special OP-AMP voltage-converter, driving 18V to the OP-AMP. This higher voltage supply enhances the harmonic content, reproducing the distinct sonic character of the Centaur with remarkable accuracy.

In addition to its overdrive capabilities, the Horseman can also function as a clean boost, adding volume and minimal color to your tone. It’s a versatile tool, whether you’re looking to enhance your amp’s drive channel or add a little something extra to your pedal chain. Moreover, with the pedal's natural distortion, you can also achieve waveform clipping for a more aggressive sound.

The Horseman also features optional True Bypass or Buffer Bypass modes, ensuring your signal remains pristine in any setup. A push-and-hold footswitch function lets you easily switch between the two modes, with LED indicators displaying the active mode.

Key Features:

  • Gold and Silver modes: 2 independent pedal sounds in one compact pedal
  • Gain, Treble, and Output Controls for precise tonal shaping
  • Unique OP-AMP voltage-converter circuitry
  • Optional True Bypass or Buffer Bypass modes for versatile signal routing
  • Power: 9V, Negative Tip

Best "Bang For Your Buck" Klon Klone out there

Had this pedal for a little over a month and could not be happier with it. It has two gain stages, Gold mode and Silver mode (which is based off of the Silver Klon). It sounds bad ass as a heavy overdrive and as a lead boost. Stacks well with other pedals too. I love how the knobs on it resemble that of the original pedal that it's inspired by. For 50 bucks, it's pretty hard to beat. I read on the NuX site that they reverse engineered the original pedal and used comparable parts to get close to that Klon tone. I don't know how many OD's I've used over the years, this one stands above the rest as my favorite and go to OD.

Good klone

Centaur Klon clone with two modes. The standard gold mode sounds quite similar to the Klon, the silver mode (selected by keeping the switch pressed for a second or to) has more gain and more distortion in the upper mid/lower treble. The gain knob goes from no distortion to a mild overdrive. No bass cut at lower levels, it seems to strengthen the fundamental note instead. Becomes a bit middley at full drive (for my taste), best used as a clean or almost-clean boost. Selectable true/buffered bypass.
