Set up for slide
I raised the action as high as it would go, raised the pickups, added resistance to the tuners, added two more trem springs (total of 5), and paired the guitar with some Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky 12's in order to play the slide guitar. The edges of the frets naturally needed some sanding/buffing & polishing, but thats the expected level of craftsmanship on the Affinity series. I dont care about raw tone I get from stock electronics since I'm running the guitar through digital effects & amp modeling for slide, but tone chasers might consider installing a "loaded pickguard" that adds dual coils/taps (behind the factory pickguard the body is already hollowed out & ready for dual coils). Mine is candy apple red with a black pickguard and aged/cream plastic knobs/trim.

Great!
This was my first guitar, and it's been great. I've played shows and spent many hours on that fretboard writing over the past 2 years. The bridge humbucker on mine is just magical. I will say the vibrato bar started sticking in the slot and falling apart, but those are extremely easy to replace, and truth be told, you don't really need one to tap into the instrument.

Perfect for beginners!
This is the perfect guitar for beginner guitarists, trying to get into rock! This guitar works well with genres like classic rock, indie rock and it does well with some alternative rock. Highly recommend if you are planning on gifting a guitar to a younger family member!

Pretty good beginner guitar
I'm more of a fun practicing guitarist. I personally play a lot of rock and hard rock. My first guitar, I needed it for a nice beginnerish guitar quality for affordable price. Build quality is not the best but I think the guitar overall is pretty fair for its price. I've had this guitar for 4 years and I find it very enjoyable for practicing. It's less comfortable than other guitars but I have big hands so I like it longer with more space between the strings. Out of 100 I would rate its sound: 67 Which makes it a good sound for home use in my opinion. Gave it 4 stars because it's not the best but I do enjoy it a lot.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
I often put the guitar volume on 2 while putting everything on my amp on max except master which I put very low and put my effect on max drive and max tone and level on middle.

Good
Its not a high end guitar, but works great actually, I use for some recordings and with a really good set up can be a great guitar
The neck feels kinda good, tuning stability isnt the best of this guitar, the bredge could be better! The sound of the pickups are good actually, give some time to dial a good tone and you can find something you like

Good if you're just starting out.
This was my first guitar. At first I liked it very much, but now I feel it has some limitations. Pickups output is low and they sound buzzy, bending higher on the neck is hard, the fretboard is dry and finally the fret ends aren't that smooth. It's a great budget beginner guitar though.

Very nice
It’s very versatile and amazing as a beginner guitar in the sense of it’s not too expensive but it doesn’t feel cheap, it’s a very amazing guitar and if you have to choose between SSS or HSS I definitely recommend HSS more
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Definitely better with a Fender Champion 20 cause you get more settings and the humbucker plus the Metal setting is so nice

Great for beginners
This was the first guitar I've bought. The neck is not too comfortable but I've played worse. Actually you can get used to it. The pickups are alright, obviously they're not the best but for the price you can get a pretty wide range of tone. Humbuckers are bucking hum, single coils sound bright as fuck. 5 way switch works fine. Knobs as well.Tuners are quite crappy, doesn't really stay in tune. Tailpiece has tremolo system which I don't really use. It detunes the crap out the instrument.
Though I have an Ibanez Artcore AFS75T which is way better than this I still use it quite a lot because I like it's bright sound.

Primary Guitar
This is my primary guitar. I've fucked up the bridge springs because I used to play 12s so I can bend forward and backwards depending on the string gauge. I've heard others complain about tuning stability on Squier's but it isn't really something that I find an issue.

I use that, but to be honest, my main guitar is a Squier, not a Strat. It’s one of the older ones from Japan. I used to play only Fender Strats. To me, a Stratocaster is like a complete instrument. I love how you can play funk and rock and metal with a Strat. It’s a very comfortable instrument, too, so that’s pretty great. I’ve experimented with other types of guitars.
Yuri Kasparyan used the Fender Squier Stratocaster Affinity HSS guitar live in 1986, as evidenced by an image showing him with the instrument while a guitar master was installing a Kahler Tremolo System on a YAMAHA SG200.
In her YouTube video titled "don’t play this song at a funeral," Elise Ecklund is seen using a Fender Squier Affinity Strat HSS in Candy Apple Red.
"I purchased this guitar because it had a great sound for Funk rhythm. But the cool thing about it, is that it has this cool bell-like ringing sound that has this edge if you pick next to the bridge and it gives me a great sound especially for my Bluesy stuff. I played the solo to 'Dip My Dipper' using this guitar clean through a 'Line 6 Spider II' crunch channel and people always gave me positive comments on the tone! I left everything stock because it sounds great just the way it is. When I plugged it in at the guitar store to try it out, I fell in love with it. Very comfortable to play. Not to mention it's not that expensive!"
This guitar can be seen in this video when we played at Woodbutcher's Follies in our hometown Aurora, MO. This is the first electric guitar I ever owned and I still have it.

Squire is a Fender owned company so they make the same guitars but this one has better pick ups and usually play just a bit smoother, but if you can save up I definitely recommend this but the squire HSS Stratocaster is good enough
