Description

The EarthQuaker Devices Avalanche Run V2 is a sophisticated sonic exploration tool that transcends the ordinary delay and reverb pedals. Built on a high-powered proprietary DSP platform, it is meticulously engineered to recreate the characteristics of old favorite delay and reverb machines while maintaining a user-friendly workspace.

Unleash your creativity with the Avalanche Run V2's dreamy delay of up to 2 seconds and lush reverb. Comprehensive control over delay time, repeats, mix, and voice, alongside the reverb length and mix, allows you to shape your sound to precise perfection. The three distinct modes - Normal, Reverse, and Swell - offer a versatile playing experience. Normal mode serves as a straightforward delay and reverb; Reverse mode flips the delay line; and Swell mode reacts to your picking dynamics for a volume swell effect.

The pedal also features an expression jack that can be assigned to six different controls for increased flexibility. Tap Tempo with six different ratios is easily accessed via the Ratio selector switch. The Avalanche Run V2 can also function in True Bypass mode or Buffered Bypass mode for trails and offers five different tail lengths, including Infinite for lo-fi and continuously degrading pseudo-looping.

A versatile delay and reverb pedal

A versatile delay and reverb pedal, albeit a little limited in terms of the reverb side, especially compared to something like the Collider.

dom_greenaway

It's fine but i feel you are better of buying a separate reverb and delay

I quite liked the reverb, it was a super simple 2 knob reverb not really much more to it. However the delay was a big disappointment, i found it to be very thin and never sat right with either clean or overdriven sounds, i never tried it with anything high gain. I was looking forward to another reverse delay but ended up underwhelmed. The swell mode actually sounded alright but the sensitivity on it left something to be desired.

Overall i'd say it's a pretty poor delay that can thankfully be covered by a blanket of reverb.

I love it!

I fell in love with the Avalanche Run the first time I played it in a shop. This pedal's reverb has a real warmth to it. And the delay settings offer plenty of variety. The tap tempo is a great feature, and I miss it in time-based pedals that lack one. To get the most out of it, you can add an expression pedal and choose which parameter it controls.

Brilliant Delay!

The Earthquaker Avalanche Run is a brilliantly handcrafted pedal. Everything is smooth and works very well. Well, it takes a time to find out all variations of delay/loop effects, but after all it's easy to manage. I use it with different instruments: guitars, keyboards, synthies, etc. It works everywhere! Even my Mellotron gets an even wider ambient sound with it. If you like to great soundscapes and are into drone try it! Yes, it's pricey, but I am thinking about buying a second one, because I would like to have it in front of more than just one instrument at the same time...

An awesome ambient avalanche, and alliteration!

The reverb on this is actually really nice, but limited in tweakability. There are also better delays on the market. But the sounds that you can get from this pedal are an absolute blast! I will never get rid of it. I will just use different reverb and delay when I need a more conventional sound.

Ambient

Nice clean stereo delay going into a huge reverb.

Not very suitable for small amounts of delay and reverb. The mix knobs add a lot of effect at minimal settings and the reverb is large even at it's shortest setting.

It sounds awesome, though...

Fun to play with.

This is an extremely unique and fun pedal. I’d give it a 5, but the truth is not everyone sound you’ll make with this pedal is “usable” per say.

That doesn’t take away from the cool factor, but I doubt I’d ever use this pedal for more than 2 or 3 songs a set. Solid pedal, extremely fun, just not the most versatile in my opinion.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Reverse is super fun to play with especially if you have a volume pedal, you can create some seriously gnarly swells.
