A well built unit (I'd expect nothing less from EHX). Even though it's a one-trick pony, it is very good at what it does.

The holy grail lives up to its name.

Mighty but powerful, with tiny adjustments the reverb gets crazier and crazier. Hard at first to find that sweet spot, but once you got it, you're rocking!

One knob and one switch with Just 3 modes: spring (your number one to go) hall (the most extreme one) and flerb (the weird one), enough to start learning about reverb, good price, lose some volume but not big deal, made of solid metal, good quality footswitch, a wonderful buy for pedal newbie.

Superb, utilitarian reverb

This thing sounds terrific on Spring or Hall mode, and I'm a huge fan of the super simple one-knob controls. Just set it to taste then leave it on. Some people might not like the lack of options but the range of the wet/dry knob is super wide and doesn't have a bad-sounding spot. Past noon is especially good for psychedelic, shoegazey, and ambient stuff.

Why only 4 stars? The Flerb setting is goofy and basically unusable, so buy a Holy Grail Neo instead, which replaces that setting with a lovely plate reverb.

one of the best!

There are more versatile reverbs, but this one just sounds wonderful. The spring and flerb are OK, but the hall option is golden. Too many choices can be a hurdle -- could be hard to find that perfect tone again if ever.I even like this one better than the other pedals in the "Holy" series. Heard this pedal on the first Russian Circles album and fell in love, got it and sold all my other reverb pedals immediately. It goes 100 percent wet which is cool for atmospheric and post-rock stuff. If need reverb, I go tube amp spring -- but when something else is needed, I go Holy Grail.

Might not suit all genres

The Electro Harmonix Holy Grail pedal is a very good pedal for psychedelic stuff and garage rock etc. As most EHX pedals, its built very good on the outside. The biggest con with this pedal is the lack of diversity, its hard to find a sweet spot if you just want a normal reverb-pedal since the effect goes from very low to extreme very quickly. But then again, its very good for ambient psychedelic stuff and just really noisy garage rock.

Best affordable reverb pedal

For me EHX do some of the best affordable pedals on the market. You can spend a fortune on some pedals these days! But why? When this does an excellent job? One of my favourite pedals to date.

Great for professional sounding, filling out reverb

The Holy Grail features three types of reverb: hall, spring, and flerb, which is a flange+reverb setting. Each setting sounds great and fills out the tone of whatever one is playing very well. It can be used for ambient swells or delay work, or to round out a driven sound. The amount of reverb is modifiable, and the pedal could not be easier to use. I recommend this pedal very much for the price for those looking for a professional sound.

always on

i picked this up about two years ago and it hasn't left my pedal board since, it can go from a fairly dry signal to overly wet so be careful. The spring reverb is pretty much a your classic spring reverb minus the spring but still holds its ground. The hall setting is what i tend to use primarily, usually between 9-10 . The flerb... something i still haven't quite gotten the hand of yet, maybe its just not my thing, regardless its great to have as an option

Want some reverb? Have some. The holy grail has got you covered no matter what. This is not an advertising, it only sounds like one. Use this to make your guitar sound like you're playing in a bigger room than you actually are, simple as that. ;)

Great reverb pedal

Love it. Absolutely love it. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of super verby tones, so I keep it on the spring switch and the knob at about 3 or 4. Pick it up on Reverb used, it's around $70-$100.
