Allows you to play fearless... if it's setup/functioning normally!
So my wacky made in China Telecaster came new and broken straight out of the box (bad input jack)... however I got it for dirt cheap and liked the color of it so I made it work by upgrading the jack, tuning pegs, and string saddles. It plays nice, and it's so cheap that I don't mind having my way with it with bangs and scratches.

Never really used but still in my possession
I own a Squier Telecaster in a burgundy finish from (trying to be accurate) the mid-1990s. Whilst |I've only used it a few times at home it seems to have a solid construction, decent sound, and an adequate ability to stay in tune. However, having acquired it around the same time as my Squier Strat, it is safe to say I prefer the latter.

Don't know the exact specs of mine, but I got it from ebay. It's black-on-black, and Korean from the mid-80s to early 90s as far as I know. Pretty solid guitar that actually plays and sounds better than most new 'proper' Fender Teles I've encountered.

its early to mid 90s if its Korean... I'm pretty sure all or most squiers were Japanese in the 80s, the changeover came when I was learning guitar, I remember I started on a used MIJ squire strat and some of my friends got new ones around '94ish? they were Korean and felt and sounded totally different than mine causing much consternation to kids who based their Christmas requests on my guitar

Telemonster....
Bought a cheap squire to mod, quiet a nice guitar for the price. Currently rewiring with new pots after a recent pick-upGrade. Still wondering why I didn't buy a 2nd hand Fender one now as I'm becoming a telecaster convert. Maybe if I get a pay rise....!

Teles are so bullet-proof and fun. I like that pick-upgrade contractin. I am going to steal that.

Ha feel free, was a typo but it seemed to fit :)
Don't run at the sight of Squire!
Many people see the name "Squire" and think "cheap." This is not always the case. My Squire Tele was $400. Yes, it's cheaper than a Fender, but is it worse? There are conflicting opinions. Many will comfortably compare this guitar with the MIM Fender Tele. I decided to save $200. You choose!

almost as good as the bass of the same maker and age.

Andy Partridge's approach to gear is as irreverent as his philosophy: “Most of my guitars have been phenomenally crap, like a Futurama guitar I had painted leopard skin. I had a Singapore guitar called a Sway Lee Goldentone — one of those really badly made guitars that as you go down the fretboard towards the nut end it gets wider! I had a homemade Flying V that was four times too thick. It was like a couple of railway slivers joined at the hip. I did White Music and Go 2 with a 1975 Ibanez Artist. I've recently brought it back from the dead, and I played it mostly on Nonsuch — plus my usual Squier Telecaster, my main guitar since 1983.”
Andy's amp is a Session 70 (“the cheapest thing in the shop”), although in the studio he covets Dave's 40-watt 1963 Fender Super Reverb. “I'm pretty much compression crazy,” he admits, “putting the compression before the amp. You can crank it up and get a smoother shape. On this record, I recorded a lot of echoes as part of the rhythm. There's some E-bow on ‘The Ugly Underneath’ — that high, spooky, dissonant orchestral stuff. My acoustic is a Martin D-35. I don't really have a head for gear. I mean, I've written albums on 5-string guitars because I was too lazy to put another string on! Dave is the real equipment guy. You and him can talk dirty about guitars.”
"To begin with I always choose maple necks when I can because they feel smoother and look nicer; so what have I got? There are two Schecters, slightly modified from the standard shape, and a Roger Giffin; a Fender Squier Telecaster with Seymour Duncan pickups fitted; two Strats modified with just one DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup – a noisy Van Halen one for feedback and the other's a spare; a few Yamahas, including the black one which is the first good guitar I ever had, bought it when I was 15, it's an SG90, the first electric they ever made, but again it's been modified; there's also a Yamaha SG2000 which I use in the studio and a 335 type, which is nice for jazzy stuff; the Ibanez is a cheapo, but it's got a great out of phase sound, again good for funk; I've got a couple of Gibsons including a '76 Firebird which is when they re-issued them, and a couple of SGs, one with a tremolo arm. I had a really nice '61 Cherry SG but that got ripped off. It was in storage. Who ever did it took two Strats and this SG which had a really thin body, but they left the cases behind, so it wasn't until months later when we opened them that we found out they'd gone. If I ever find the bloke who did that, I'll stamp on his head."
In the YouTube video titled "A Guitar Lesson with Tom Wisniewski - MxPx," Thomas Wisniewski is seen practicing with a Squier Telecaster.
According to the Premier Guitar's article, Gender Bender uses the modded Squier Telecaster.
Many live photos show Andy Moor playing the same Squier Telecaster since his days in the Dog Faced Hermans. The guitar's knobs and finish have disappeared over time, it is unclear if it has been otherwise modified.
In this live acoustic performance of ’Who I Am’, Alfie can be seen using a ‘Squier Telecaster’ Electric Guitar

Played at Future of the Left live shows in 2016. Guitar appears to have been modified by replacing the neck single coil with a humbucker.
Koji Nakamura used a squier STL-33 during his time with the band Supercar as a rhythm guitar. He modified the instrument by changing both pickups to humbuckers and adorned it with numerous stickers.
