Highly recommended DAW with limitless creative potential

Ableton is just perfect for me. It doesn't crash too often, almost everything inside Ableton is unlimited which makes it really good. It makes me feel like nothing is going to stop me from producing a track like MIDI tracks or Mixer inserts. If you don't use it, I would highly recommend you to check it out!

Best daw of all time. I have a Mac or I would prob be using FL just because of how much cheaper it is, but i've used it and in comparison with ableton it feels like a toy.

Convenient tool for the songwriter.

By far my favorite DAW because of it's unique session/arrangement view. For producers who love to vomit out beats, melodies, and other ideas, the session view feature is amazing for subtracting, adding, and rearranging for the optimal sound. It's no wonder this is an industry standard DAW.

Amazing software, crappy piano roll, crashes.

I've only been using Ableton for a short time, as I just switched over from Logic (I had a myriad of problems with Logic, but I won't go into detail here). I really like the software, as everything is fast and easy to reach, but it is in no way perfect. My two main problems are the piano roll, and the program's instability. The piano roll is less than stellar, and although I do like triplet grid, I would like to see something that is better for mouse editing, like FL's. The most annoying thing though, is the crashing. From time to time it will just crash, even with very few instruments and effects open. I'd like to see these two complaints addressed in the next version.

Great composition and production tool.

Moving on to Ableton after using Logic for a long time was a bit of a struggle, but once you've got the hang of it, Ableton is an extremely powerful software that allows you to concentrate on your creativity and the music instead of spending hours making the track sound good as you go along. I also love that you can basically write a song in the session window and make all the regions and then just drag them into the arrange window to create the structure.

Timeless and reliable!

After I put my Renoise and tracker days behind me (and accepted that using a certain DAW will not compensate for growing your composition skills), I finally decided to just pick a DAW and stick with it forever. At the guidance of my friends and just sheer experience, I decided to go with Ableton Live and I'm really happy that I did. It's the only one that's ever worked perfectly for me and never once gave me drama. Even though Bitwig and other DAW's have gotten new releases and updates, Ableton still continues to update their DAW and Live 9 has never let me down.

There is no such thing as the "best DAW", my friends! the 'best' DAW is the one you have the most experience in and you can immediately jump in and start working, no matter what it is or how old it is. For me, I've used Live 9 for years at this point and I love it. Despite other DAW's coming out as time goes on, I can't see myself ever leaving it right now :).

Works amazingly, except for when it doesn't.

I own studio one 2 as well, but I keep coming back to this. I love this DAW, and it's great for anything digital. Even though s1 is great for the acoustic side when you're not using any plugins, this + a few kontakt instruments is fine, plus, if I ever plan on doing a live set, ableton has me covered. Crashes sometimes, but runs VSTs very well. Best, easiest to use, sampler as well.

The best DAW imo

I use Ableton as my main DAW. I use it because I really like the audio workflow, especially compared to FL, where I'm coming from. I love the arranging options, and I also love that it isn't super CPU heavy, so it can run pretty darn well on my 2011 mediocre craptop.

Ableton Live is the only DAW worth using in our opinion.

You literally can do everything and more in Ableton Live. Now that version 9 gives 64 bit capability, it is unstoppable.

The main reason it is so versatile is its ability to create in a studio environment, or perform in a live situation, like a conductor of a giant orchestra of your own sounds.

The two most useful features are Racks and Warping. It can make parallel or serial processing a breeze, and the user interface is super easy to navigate.

To get the most out of Live, the illMethodology.com workshops from iLL.Gates are a must see. His use of Drum racks, samplers and 128s gives you infinite capability with lightning-fast workflow.

Ableton Live

I have been an Ableton Live user since version one and I haven't looked back since. I use it for all my live performances, music productions, sound design, live sound art installations and remixes. The great thing about Ableton live is the clip mode, I am able to record on the fly and it has open up all types of possibilities.
