A great sounding delay with a couple of drawbacks.

First off, I really enjoy this delay pedal. I primarily use it for a subtle slapback. Vintage tape echo units are a major element of so many of my favorite recorded tones, but I've always had to make due with BBD's or just plain digital delays due to the prohibitive cost and fragility of the real deal.

So far I've owned and sold a Boss DM-3, DD-3, DD-7, RE-20, Arion SAD-3, and an MXR Carbon Copy.I honestly like the Gauss better than anything else I've owned. It just feels right, and It does the best job at simulating a real tape echo out of anything I've tried. Not even the RE-20.

Unfortunately there are some drawbacks that for some people could/would be deal-breakers. Some users have reported that there is a perceivable volume drop when engaged, as well as a modicum of background noise/hiss. They are not wrong. Personally, I just leave it on all the time. It sounds so good that I can deal with a little extra noise.

Great Value

Good variety of delay and echo, sounds warm and full. A noticeable level drop when engaged and a decent amount of hiss at high volumes. The rating is based on value for price as it’s an entry level pedal. The tape echo style modulation is subtle with decent tape warmth. If you want to spend under £50 this is a good shout.

The delay itself sounds ok, but noticeable volume drop and unbearable hiss when engaged make it unusable for me.
