Critic Reviews

TC Electronic PolyTune 2 Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The TC Electronic PolyTune 2 impresses with its quick response, bright display, and versatile tuning modes, making it a strong contender for one of the best tuner pedals available. Its ability to tune all strings simultaneously or operate in a precise strobe mode is noteworthy, especially for techs or musicians using alternate tunings. However, the battery compartment can be challenging to open with bare fingers. If you're considering an upgrade from the original, weigh the value of the strobe function and display brightness. Overall, it's a fantastic option for those seeking more than basic tuning.

TC Electronic PolyTune 2 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The TC Electronic PolyTune 2 impresses with its brighter display and ultra-accurate strobe mode, making it ideal for outdoor gigs and precise intonation. While it maintains the core features of its predecessor, like simultaneous tuning and drop/capo tuning capabilities, existing PolyTune users might not find enough incentive to upgrade. Nonetheless, for those new to the PolyTune experience, this pedal remains a top choice for quick and intuitive tuning. It's a standout tool, especially if you don't need to adjust from the standard A-440 pitch. Overall, a solid investment for gigging musicians.

Best floor/board tuner out there

I've been through many tuners over the years from rack mounted and software based to floorboard units. This one is the best I've tried by a long way. It's accurate but most are. What sets this apart is that the display is visible at any angle and in even the brightest of lights. The polythene element of it is useful. A gentle strum across open strings will show you which need adjusting if any. If you want to dive in a single out a string then one more pluck on that single string will do it. Useful setting for the popular drop d tuning and can be set to other tunings too. I'm also a fan of the fact that it has a power output too. Makes it sit on a board more easily, taking up less ports on your supply. Feels solid as any other pedal and also uses the lovely soft touch button.

Great tuner for your pedalboard

There is really not much to say. It is a tuner and it does help with tuning your guitar. It does so with a nice bright LED display showing you how close you are to being in tune. The polyphonic mode works fairly well and it can be nice for a quick check up if anything is in dire need of a tuning. The polytune 2 also comes with functionality for different tunings which I personally don't use but I'm sure other people might find use for it. It also can double as a tuner for bass guitars.

The only draw backs to this fine pedal is it's price which I find is fairly steep. The power switch is the non-clicky type used across all TC Electronic pedals and I personally don't like the lack of tactile feedback. I've also had issues where the pedal freezes up causing me to have to reset the power to my pedalboard. Luckily I don't do shows so this hasn't been an issue and I'm fairly sure this is an issue with my unit rather than an issue with the product line.

Really good tuner

Well what can I say, except it's a really good tuner for live gigs. It's roughly the same price as the BOSS Chromatic Tuner, but it looks a lot cooler and it shows you what strings are detuned if you strum all of them at the same time (without capo in standard tuning, mind you). Sometimes it's a little slow, or maybe I'm just too impatient, I don't know.

Best Tuner hands down!

Most accurate tuner out there, SUPER clear and bright display, amazing features that you should;t expect out of a simple tuning pedal, all types of tuning supported, and the poly tuning is a nice touch for a quick check. Dc out is a nice additions well. I have one problem with this, is that it doesn't let you tune your A reference to 432 hz, only goes down to 435 hz, which is a bummer considering that it could have been done or i am hoping for a software upgrade for it to do that, as i am experimenting with this tuning

More than just your average tuner

Do not take your tuning pedal for granted. The polyphonic tuning feature is a game changer, allowing me to make sure all my strings are in tune at once in the time it takes to strum all strings. I don't know where I would be without polyphonic tuning.

atr89

One of the best pedal tuners I've had.

This is a one of the greatest tuners I've tried. Accurate. I really don't use the other functions such as capo and drop tunings. The thing I love is that you can change it from bass to guitar with one button. I also like that the leds adapt according to the light in the room or the place you're playing. Great tuner, I also use it to intonate guitar, really accurate.

steve_underhill

Easy to read, neat polyphonic features, upgradeable.

Super clear LEDs for easy reading on a dark stage. Polyphonic is clever, but not for everyone. Fortunately the Polytune instantly knows if you're strumming 1 or all strings, and the standard strobe tuner functions very well. Full size version has a mini USB port for firmware upgrades.

miroslav_suvada

Cool tuner

This is how modern tuner should look and work. I would give it 5 stars but it can't be set to tune in 432Hz. Minimal setting for concert A is 435Hz. Firmware could make this work but it doesn't seem it will ever happen. That's real shame because it can be deal breaker for some. Anyway for me this for overweighted with great display and ease of tuning so I bought it.

_paulpalmer_

The best tuner

It is the best tuner that exists, I even think that its newer versions are not so necessary, once you have this you don't need anything else.

More than your average tuner

Don't under-appreciate your tuning pedal. I use the polyphonic tuning feature almost exclusively to make sure all my strings are in tune between songs. I could not do without polyphonic tuning, really.

Here’s some shots of a board we did for @jeffloomis1 last year. This one had some cool LEDs on it. With the @bossfx_us ES-8s versatility it is easily able to be used in stereo or mono amps, with or without effects loops. The Bigsky is also MIDI programmed to be turned on/off via the ES-8 without being in one of its’ loops. #RigsByBTPA
