Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 Reverb.

Features and functionality

  • The pedal includes multiple reverb types, but the spring reverb is noted as lacking, which is common in lower-priced pedals.

    Source
  • The MASH feature is highlighted for increasing the mix effectively, useful for ambient sounds, although some users prefer a tap tempo feature, which can be enabled via software adjustments.

    Source
  • The HOF2's reverb tails are sometimes described as "washy" or having a "smear modulation," particularly at longer decay settings.

    Source
  • The church, hall, and plate settings are favored for their long decay times, particularly around 7 seconds, when paired with low level settings for ambient effects.

    Source
  • The toggle switch for pre-delay settings is criticized for its limited flexibility, compared to pedals offering fine-tunable pre-delay controls.

    Source
  • The level knob is highly sensitive; small adjustments drastically change the volume from barely audible to overpowering between 2:00 and 3:00.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • The TonePrint app allows for level curve adjustments, though this doesn't affect preset slots, which are limited to three.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users report experiencing a significant volume drop when the HOF2 is engaged, suggesting a possible issue with specific units.

    Source
  • Some users describe the HOF2 as having a "micro-delay" effect that creates digital, granular artifacts, which can be unappealing at both low and high settings.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The MXR M300 is noted for its compact size and ease of use, with a standout Pad setting, making it a competitive alternative to the HOF2.

    Source
  • The Walrus Audio Slo is favored over the HOF2 for its ability to transition smoothly from subtle reverb to full ambient effects.

    Source
  • The Digitech Polara, although discontinued, is noted for its beautiful settings despite offering fewer options compared to the Hall of Fame 2.

    Source
  • The Joyo Atmosphere is preferred by some for its unique MOD knob and shimmer effects, offering an alternative experience compared to the Hall of Fame 2.

    Source
  • The Boss RV-6 is cited as a more reliable and well-rounded option compared to the Hall of Fame 2.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • The Hall of Fame 2 can be modified through software to replace the MASH feature with a tap tempo, enhancing its functionality for those who prefer this feature.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Combining the room reverb with an analog delay set to quick repeats and low levels can mimic a spring reverb, surpassing some built-in amplifier reverbs.

    Source
  • While the pedal is versatile, some users feel it excels more in creative algorithms like those in the TC Plethora X3 than traditional reverb types.

Great!!!!

A lot of versatility in one pedal. The Mash is fun.

uc_jordan

Very cool, versatile reverb pedal.

This pedal offers a lot for it's price point. I know that I'm far from the first to talk about all of the different possible reverb settings that you can pull off with this unit, so instead I'll list the specific uses that I got out of the HOF 2. I had utilized the stereo jacks to split the signal before I got a dedicated unit which does that. Of course you can use the Hall reverb and all the other typical reverbs, but my favorite has got to be the LOFI reverb, idk it's checks the boxes for what I'm looking for (A reverb with character but not overbearing/distracting).

Oh btw I never used that "long press" feature on this pedal, I just can't find a good use of it despite of me being more of a "experimental" pedal player, oh welll

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Lofi setting is probably my favorite reverb setting on this pedal

Massively versatile reverb

Really great reverb, not a bad sound in it. Does the classic spring, plate and hall really well but it excells at the more ambient sounds, church, shimmer and lofi. The tone print ability is such a fantastic idea, but I found it hard to use and so haven't really delved into it too much.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Shimmer reverb after a volume swell pedal for the ultimate ambient wash.

The lush, wonderful workhorse.

I’ve had this pedal for years, and it’s really phenomenal. It’s not a crazy pedal that will do ridiculous things to your sound or look great on a YouTube video, it’s just a reliably awesome stereo reverb. It is wonderful on guitar and equally wonderful on synth. I love the ability to load some custom tone print sounds into the extra slots.

Really, there’s not a ton else to say. It’s really great.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Hall, Church, Lo-Fi are all awesome. Church on an electric guitar in a relatively clean amp: instant post-rock material ala Explosions in the Sky or Caspian.

felkja

I love the sound, its not magical but easy and lush

Not much else to say, great on vocals or guitar, its a modern affordable legend

Mid

The Hall reverb setting is great on this pedal but the Spring & Shimmer reverb setting is hot garbage. The "MASH" feature is just a shitty gimmick luckily you can disable that shit in the toneprint software

askja

really versatile

Great pedal with a lot of useful options thats fun to experiment with.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I like the spring reverb for normal reverb effect but the shim effect is really cool when you turn up the level.

villalbacanari

I love it

Very useful and versatile, I use it a lot, it allows me to create good reverb sound on the guitar.

Nice reverb for your reverberation needs

It is a good pedal, I got it as second hand, but still in great shape. I also found the true bypass and buffered bypass functions, and kill dry. I didn't like at all the shimmer reverb, so I'll still tweak a little more to check for my taste setup.

The Mash function might be a mess sometimes, when you try to shut off the effect but instead of this, the Mash option is activated.

lobberuno

Probably the buffered option is my best suited for good dynamics.

lobberuno

Yet, I'm still tryong to figure out how to get the best from this pedal. The most used effects by me are spring, church, hall... I should use the tone prints, I have three of them, one from That Pedal Show (Spring Reverb) and two from Pete Thorn. I miss the Gate Reverb from the past Hall of Fame, probably I'll load it to play a little with it.

lobberuno

I would like to put this pedal in a separate closed loop, adding also the Carbon copy to the circuit, just to experiment.

lobberuno

Thinking about putting again this red buddy in the chain, before the Echosystem, for ambiental sounds.

rsaladmoney

No longer own.

No longer own. Didn’t hate this pedal but found a lot of the modes to be very plain. The hall and mod were the two best sounds but the shimmer and plate were lacking heavy.

jack_schlotthauer

It shimmers now

I owned the original Hall of Fame, and while it was in excellent condition, I went ahead and got this one - specifically because of the Shimmer effect. While the strymon does more - the shimmer effect here - when edited using the toneprint - can impress even the most scrupulous.

High Quality shimmer + expression? For under 200...just get it.

I used this on my korg volcas, minilog, vocal tracks, and now on my guitar. So versatile.
