Description
Introducing the Boss RV-6 Reverb, an exceptional pedal designed to add depth, dimension, and drama to your tone. This compact pedal is packed with eight meticulously crafted reverb algorithms, offering a diverse range of sound from small rooms to cavernous halls, vintage spring emulations and more, enveloping your tone in lush, ambient spaces.
Its standout feature is the Dynamic Mode, a brilliant tool for musicians who need immersive reverb effects without losing the clarity and articulation of their playing. An excellent reverb pedal
Simple, great sounding and very user friendly. It’s a working man’s reverb and then some.
All the algorithms cover the basic stuff, such as plate, hall, spring and room. Compared to previous offerings (RV-5/RV-3/RV-2) it’s fuller sounding and more “studio” like, though character wise I would probably say more neutral and sterile. As with the vast majority of the RV series though, the spring algorithm is an acquired taste, as I don’t find it as drippy and rich sounding like the ones in the Oceans 11, the Topanga or the Flint (60’s reverb). Other modes such as the modulated, plate, hall and room are superb. Even though this pedal doesn’t go fully wet, it still gets wet enough for most ambient and experimental styles.
Overall, a great reverb with few weaknesses. It’s reliable, intuitive and reasonably priced. One of the easiest reverb pedals to recommend.
Very solid pedal
The dynamics and the tone of the reverb are pretty solid. It has plenty of modes, and almost every single one of them has nice sounds, but personally, the shimmer was my least favourite. I really like this pedal because even if you crank the settings, it respects the volume of the tone, and you get a surprisingly The Modulation reverb is an interesting mode, and I can definitely see myself using this in the studio for some ambient stuff.
The Spring reverb is one of the least i have tried, but they do their job pretty well and they sound natural
The Plate and Hall reverbs are again the least used, but they sound nice
The Room reverb is very good.
The Dynamic mode is one of my favourites, clear example that despite cranking the settings up, it does not get "washy" and blurred, it lets you to be clear with the notes
The Shimmer mode was decent, but again, it is personal taste, sounds a bit artificial for me
The Delay mode is decent, but I wouldn't use it if I already had a delay, the MVP's of this pedal are the Plate, hall, dynamic and the room reverbs
If I had the money, buy it. I don't regret buying this pedal, but, for the price, it lacks other settings like reverse reverb. If that's a concern , buy a polara.

I love it
Squeeze the full potential on this pedal using the stereo mode, is gorgeous, the hall, modulate is so good, the delay mode is very similate to a dd3 delay and the dynamic mode is just fun, and the shimmer is the best part if you want to create gorgeous ambient just put the tone in 0 and is a really mindblow, amazing piece of gear
Preferred Settings + Usage:
Shimmer mode with the tone in 0, beatiful landscape sound

Great pedal that gives you a wide, diverse array of sounds.
This was the first pedal I ever bought for mysefl - I'd been gifted an OS-2 and a CH-1 years before - and I loved that I finally had access to such great reverb sounds, not to mention a reverb/delay setting. As I started buying more pedals, though, I started to use it less. I didn't necessarily like the shimmer setting that much at a certain point, I more or less replaced it with a Zoom MS-70CDR, which had an even more diverse array of reverbs, in addition to a far better spring settings and controlability. I ended up selling it to my band's bass player along with the other Boss pedals I mentioned (I don't mean this to be elitist bc Boss pedals are great) because I didn't find myself using them as much as I should. I used the money selling it to get an EQD Ghost Echo: a pedal that compensates its lack of diversity with an ethereal, haunting sound and an incredible spring sound.
This is definitely one of the best reverbs for its price, especially if you're still figuring out which reverb sounds you like - unfortunately though, it doesn't have a reverse reverb setting - so all in all a great pedal.
my favourite pedal
all the settings are great. i especially like the dynamic and shimmer sounds. really big sound and great for shoegaze and dreampop music, anything else too. i recorded an ep where i mostly just had my guitar plugged into this pedal and then directly into the multitrack without even using an amp, because it doesn’t even need all that to sound good

Forget what some people say about Boss pedals.
They are, and they will always be, one of the best pedal manufacturers in the world. Like every company out there, they produce a lot of crappy pedals. But this one is an exception.
I was out there looking for a reverb pedal for quite sometime. But i was avoiding stuff like Strymon, Empress and Eventide. I even considered Neunaber and MXR but I could bring my self to spend over 200€ on a reverb pedal.
I went to a local music shop to see what they had and try a few options. I always thought I would go for a TC Electronic Hall of Fame. Maybe even a Digitech Polara. But never, ever, have I thought I would go for a Boss Reverb pedal, weather it'd be an RV-5 or and RV-6.
I was let down by the TC HOF, but was very, VERY, surprised when I played the RV-6: great reverb, that can compete with other higher priced reverbs.
The Modulation reverb is an interesting mode, and I can definitely see myself using this in the studio for some ambient stuff.
The Spring reverb is cool and all, and maybe it's because it's not my cup of tea, but I couldn't find it anywhere decent, felt too digital, too fake for my ears.
The Plate and Hall reverbs are spot on. It can be subtle at lower Time settings, and it can be quite aggressive but still very musical at higher settings. It does not get the sound too washed in effect. (you can still use the output B to get JUST the wet signal, and blend in the two outputs, in the studio, or send them through two different amps, in a live setting.
The Room reverb is very well designed. It can produce a subtle "presence" to the sound, and even if you "crank" the pedal, it does not get out of control.
The Dynamic mode is quite interesting and, honestly, one of the reasons I bought this pedal. It is very musical, and responds very well to your playing. It sits well in the mix and can fill the space around without feeling like "too much". One of the modes I use the most.
The Shimmer mode was one of the new additions to the RV family, and it is awesome! it just makes me feel like doing swells and ambient/atmospheric stuff all day long. You can adjust the brightness of the octave voicing with tone, so it can me more subtle and suit your needs better.
The +Delay mode is ok. I fool around with it, in juncture with my Ibanez DE7 to produce some ping-pong-ish guitars. it is a great delay if you need one, but I don't see myself using this mode, other than to making some experiences, since I have a delay pedal in my board already.
All in all, it is a great Reverb unit. Within its price range, It is safe to say that it is one, if not, the best bet you can make. You won't regret it.

Not bad for the price!
I had this pedal on my wish list for quite sometime. I got it for my 15th birthday finally, and just messing around with this pedal was amazing. The only downside is that on the wet input and output, you cannot get your dry signal when you turn it off, but that's okay. This pedal is amazing, especially the shimmer, plate, and modulation settings! The pedal works really well with distortion, so far this pedal has been amazing to use!

Unbelievable performance
If you want Strymon reverb but hesitate because of its cost, this is it. Of course Strymon's sound is so smooth that I don't think it's overpriced, but this RV-6 can compete. It has many useful modes with very natural decay, especially I like plate and hall reverb. Strymon's spring reverb sounds better than that of RV-6 for me, but it still make me feel good while playing.

the shimmer mode with the tone rolled off alone makes it worth having
i don't think most other reverbs that do shimmer have this beautiful modulated reverb sound hidden. other modes are awesome too. for all its sonic capabilities, it deserves to have the ability to at least switch modes through an external switch – but it doesn't.
