Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Boss DD-7 Digital Delay.

Features and functionality

    Source
  • The DD-7's 'Hold' function allows recording a loop with up to two layers and 60 seconds of playback, enhancing solo practice and improvisation.

    Source
  • The DD-7 can achieve 6400 ms of delay time by using a specific input/output configuration, doubling the advertised 3200 ms limit.

    Source

User experience

    Source

Comparisons

  • The DD-7's reverse mode is considered less impressive than its analog and digital modes, which are favored for their sound quality.

    Source
  • Despite its clarity, the DD-7's digital delay tone is often compared to the TC Flashback and Behringer DD400, both known for their crisp delay sounds.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The DD-7 is anticipated to become a sought-after model due to its discontinued status and unique features not present in newer versions.

    Source
  • The DD-7 offers multi-mode delay features uncommon in budget models, justifying its higher price point despite cheaper alternatives available.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The DD-7 is favored in live settings for its clear repetitions, allowing intricate delay patterns to stand out without becoming lost in the mix.

Boss DD-7 Digital Delay Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Boss DD-7 Digital Delay impresses with its blend of classic warmth and modern functionality, making it a reliable workhorse for delay enthusiasts. The addition of tap tempo and analog delay mode enriches its versatility, offering a satisfying sound palette from vintage to modern. While the Hold function could be outgrown by loop aficionados, its overall sound quality and affordability make it an excellent choice for most guitarists. However, those seeking intricate control over every delay parameter or a comprehensive looper might find it lacking.

yeah

My go to delay. I love it. Woof woof. Pretty clean, I mostly keep it on dotted rhythm with the fs5u.

duane_toops

Good Delay.

I really do like this pedal. I rarely turn it off. I always use it in the Dotted eighth note setting. There's definitely better delays on the market but this one gets the job done. I wish it had the option for an external tap tempo switch.

duane_toops

I mistakenly reviewed the DD7 when I intended to review the DD6, sorry guys

zach_epps

Great Pedal

Although this is a very popular and well-known delay pedal, I get the basic delay sound that I need. It works best with an external foot switch for tap tempo. You can use the pedal itself to "tap the tempo" but it's a lot easier if you have an external.

BOSS DD7

Very good digital delay, do not see in it any minuses

al_volta

THE Delay

Amazing Reverse Delay, also the fact that is compact and versatile adds a plus to this machine

callum_lausberg

Many Many Many Options

The reverse is great, you can get a slap back, long drawn out, a nice analogue, space noises and you ca even trick it into being a loop pedal. Also the stereo outputs are fun. This pedal is all over my live show.

Boss DD-7 Digital Delay

Time and time again the Boss DD-7 pedal proves to be more than formidable in countless rigs across the world. This can be spotted on Malcolm's rig.

ilmer_benda

Great

Very good, versatile but simple, the looper needs some practice to get down perfectly but altogether a great pedal!

dailydoze

The best delay pedal I've ever used

Not much to say here. It's simply amazing and, when you play through it, makes it sound like you're playing RHCP-style music.

W

Really good sounds

I love this pedal, I love delay, this is massively tweakable with some massive long delays down to just a subtle thickening.
