Immerse yourself into a world of lush harmonies and radical pitch bends with the Boss PS-6 Harmonist pedal. This cutting-edge device is your personal orchestra, providing a palette of pitch effects that will elevate your sonic explorations.

The PS-6 is the ultimate creative tool for guitarists, offering four intelligent pitch-shift algorithms in one compact, road-ready unit. With its easy-to-use interface, you can create intricate harmonies by simply selecting a key and major/minor mode, and dialing in the interval with the Shift knob. The PS-6's high-performance DSP renders complex voicings with lifelike quality, providing 2nd, 3rd, and 5th intervals for rich, multi-voice backing.

The Super Bend mode is a standout, allowing you to produce dramatic pitch sweeps over a seven-octave range (-3 to +4 octaves). Sculpt swooping sounds in real time using the pedal's knob or an external expression pedal. The Pitch Shifter mode offers shifted voices one octave up, one fifth down and detuned voices for shimmering, arpeggiated textures.

The PS-6 also offers a detune mode, providing detuned voices slightly above and below the direct signal for a dimensional, natural chorus-like effect. This feature broadens your tone with stereo-widening modulation in a user-friendly way.

Very good pitch pedal

Build in the classic and powerful boss design, this pedal offers a lot of variety of options to detune, pitch and "latch" your guitar tone, very dinamic to put in the beginning or final chain of your pedalboard, the problem is the learning curve is very high and it takes time to set up right, the quality of the knob it's not very good, i feel i can break it very easily so you must treated this knobs very kindly, you can put a exp pedal and it's stereo, i use this pedal for dreampop cumbia projects, have this very synth feel that it's a matter of taste, for myself this pedal gain his position in my pedalboard.

Bought on a whim, glad I did!

This is one of those pedals you don’t NEED, but once you have one you can likely find all kinds of cool uses for it. I’m currently nailing down a signature guitar tone that I can only describe as ‘watery’ and this has become integral to that, particularly with the detune mode, which produces a very nice almost chorus type effect. I haven’t even explored much of the rest of it, but I have a feeling this will have a spot on my board for a long time! Edit: I love this pedal. I’ve come to use it for almost nothing except for ‘detune’ mode, but I love that mode so much it was well worth the cost and space on my board!

Not perfect - but unique

The PS-6 is not the most up to date harmonist anymore. Its tracking is still okay, but not unmatched, the Harmony Settings keys in major and minor are pretty flexible but often also useless (for my guitar playing). The detune sounds like a chorus.

Doesn't sound too great? Well but it is! Despite all its faults this is one damn characteristic pedal if you accept it for what it is! The detune is a chorus? Well okay, it's a fantastic chorus! The pitch shifting options are fantastic too, you can create warm and dreamy sound with and dwell in it.

I've tested, heard and had technically better Harmonizers, but this is the one that stayed on my board, because you can get incredibly beatiful sounds out of it.

Strange multi-faceted pitch warbling machine

The pitch-shifting functions are far more nuanced than the POGs, able to do major/minor harmonies, but they're all pretty silly for the most part. The simple octave up and down settings are the most useful. Someone can make use of them I'm sure, just not me! There's a detune effect too, which sounds like chorus...

I really got excited about this pedal (as another reviewer mentioned) once I hit the S-bend function. You can do fast or slow, pitch dives or rises by pushing the pedal down, and if you keep the pedal down you get some really warbly strange effects. I also use this pedal in s-bend mode to split my signal in to two amplifiers.

There's so many things this pedal does, you'll find something strange and useful.

Hi, im between this and the ehx pitchfork, im more interested in the octave Up/down thing, but i also want the harmonizer thing. What do you thing of the octaves up/down of this pedal? is it worth it

cwirus88

From heaven sent

Well, if you are highly into harmonizing, pitch-shifting and whammy fun then the pedal is perfect and undisputed number one in its league. Besides the impressive tracking, great sound quality and classical, indestructible Boss chasis you get in fact 4-in-1 pedal:

1) three-voice, beatiful and creamy, amazing and heavenly sounding harmonies, 2) classical pitchshifting that just works fine, 3) detune mode which is in fact kind of deep chorus 4) S-bend mode, a reference to Digitech Whammy that is just quite the same, but more tweakable (fall control)

For that price (~150 $) you can't really beat it. Of course it is not out-of-the-box pedal, a basic scales knowlegde is required here to get full potential of PS-6; it takes some time to dial into "that perfect tone". Works best in fx loop or after dirt section.

jedeux_schiss

Fits good on everything!

I generaly use it on guitar, but not only. Sometimes I use with my mic or with my keyboard. It's perfect to study and composition, but his variety of effects is a little complex to use on stage, mainly if you're not playing pop or tonal music. (tonal here is just a opositive to modal music) Use repeatedly the same effect on the same music may sound boring, but i'll find a way to fit it your music.

Best and most versatle pitch/octave pedal

I would recommend you this over a lot of octave (up or down) pedals. This doest it all and even you can put it a expression pedal. For me , if you are between the ehx pitchfork, boss octave and whammy, you have to buy this, it covers all of that.

E

flexible harmony pedal

your use of this is limited only by your imagination. On my board it is used mainly for octaves below and twelve string emulation (octave above). There are many more options there some of them quite complex. If I had to choose I would take the Whammy first but this can do the same job

rmerrill2470

great Mike Sterin Chorus

The PS-6 is the new-generation pedal for harmony shifting. Sound quality has been improved dramatically thanks to the DSP that is unparalleled in power. With the PS-6, you can render complex harmony voicings beautifully, naturally, and easily.

james_pearson

basically a divebomb pedal.

I found the actual pitch shifting functions on the pedal overcomplicated and I couldn't be bothered with them, but once I found the S BEND mode I never turned it off. A pedal that does DIVEBOMBS? sign me up.

jimmarchi1

does it do a detune that's like 10 cents or less?

james_pearson

it does have a detune setting, but I've personally never found a reason to use it. However, this is a very high quality pedal so i imagine it's good enough.
