Description

Unleash the vintage vibe and modern versatility of the Boss TR-2 Tremolo pedal. Residing in a compact, rugged casing, this pedal is an essential tool for any guitarist, serving up a banquet of tremolo effects. It possesses the analog circuitry that authentically recreates the resonant and dimensional tremolo tones that guitarists yearn for.

The Boss TR-2 Tremolo pedal allows you to explore a spectrum of sounds, from the pulsing throb of vintage amp tremolos to modern, choppier pulsations. Its three-knob simplicity ensures intuitive operation, while offering precise control over the effect. The rate knob allows you to set the speed of the tremolo effect, ranging from a leisurely roll to a frantic churn. The depth knob lets you control the intensity of the tremolo, from subtle undulations to intense throbs.

Boss TR-2 Tremolo Review — The Gear Check

gearcheck.co.uk

The Boss TR-2 Tremolo pedal is a versatile powerhouse, celebrated for its incredible sound and robust build quality. It offers a wide range of modulation effects through its intuitive 3-knob layout, appealing to both subtle and aggressive playing styles. Used by legends like Tom Morello and Billy Joe Armstrong, its ability to deliver from smooth, organic tremolos to fast, stuttering sounds makes it a must-have for creative musicians. While some users reported a potential issue with input volume reduction, the review suggests this may be limited to older units. Despite lacking modern features like a tap tempo switch or expression pedal support, the TR-2’s simplicity and reliability shine through. Overall, it's a top choice for those seeking a dependable and adaptable tremolo pedal.

Its that sound

Its every tremolo sound you want. Like Josh from JHS said about this pedal

“If this doesn’t do the sound you’re after, you’re probably a little weird”

great pedal

even tho this is a very underrated pedal by boss, there are so many things that you can do with this bad boy,and you can change the settings on it to get some very weird effects from it,which makes me laugh, love this pedal man.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

mainly tool because I play a lot a metal stuff and I don't really know a lot of bands that uses bass tremolo.

el_monje

Nice and simple!

It works, two modes, saw and square, good depth and very nice rate, in my version (black label) you can adjust the volume with the secret knob inside the pedal that's is very useful, so you have a tremolo and a good volume booster, the only one bad thing is not a stereo tremolo, but you can do wonders with him so use it wisely.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I am an enthusiast of the saw wave mode, useful in slow and quick rate.

It's a tremolo!

What can you say, it's a tremolo. Is there a bad one out there? Probably, but this one has Boss build quality and a waveform shaping knob that offers a little more variety over the standard depth and rate controls. Very much worth what you're likely to pay for it.

Does What it Says on the Tin

There's really not much to say about this. It's got Rate, Wave, Depth. That's it. Rate controls speed, Depth controls volume, and the wave is what kind of a soundwave the tremolo effect will take.

The cool thing about this pedal, and what I use it for, is I'll crank the Depth all the way up, set a fairly fast rate, turn on my Phaser, set the wave to a pretty sharp cut, and then play in time with it like a metronome, and I get a pretty neat staccato effect.

Another Boss home run!

It's a Boss stompbox. Built like a tank, great effect.

Really helps me find those Twin Peaks-style vibes. Perfect for adding a moving layer to an ocean of ambience.

rosco666

It works

It's good, but not the greats built-in quality (mine has problems with input contact). But when it works, it's a really good tremolo pedal

eddy_pena_arano

Great gear!

Simple and easy, what else can i say? It sounds very well and is an affordable pedal, so i think is a great choice for a gear... like something basic but indispensable to have on your board

dterrero

Simple, yet effective

I purchased this almost a year ago and I have to say this thing sounds great. I mainly use the depth all the way up for a nice stuttering effect. My only concern with this pedal in particular is that when you engage the pedal there is a noticeable volume drop. Not very helpful considering it's the last thing in my chain. However, that can be easily fixed by prying out the C4 capacitor. Now I have no issues with the volume drop.

nickgrooves

Excellent rate and wave parameters, but difficult to set for live use (no LCD tempo display).

I purchased this pedal early-on in my career because of it's vintage vibe and superb tremolo characteristics. I was doing a lot of studio work with bands, and this pedal ended up on many tracks. Unfortunately when I started using it live I quickly realized it would never work. Trying to manually set the BPM from song to song near impossible, since it doesn't have a display. For live tremolo, you really need a display showing the BPM to match your drummer or else it'll be off (and sound bad).
